This weeks LUUUUST!

This week's lust is an ode to beautiful dreads and locs. A good way to express r.i.p to my genie locs...

Le sigh...

Hot weather, hot weather....HOT WEATHER! I'm 5 steps past excited. It's spring time for real! Finally! I had to make sure this wasn't on one of those "JK!" moments, we experienced earlier in the season. It really is springtime and the temperature is only going to go up from here. I'm really just exicted because I can wear less clothes (yup, I said it!) and it's safe enough for my real hair to show!

I've had these genie locks in my hair for a little over a month now. And let me tell you, I've missed my hair dearly. So currently I'm taking them out and it's been one of the worst experiences ever. To the point where I'm wondering if I'll be doing them again. I loved the style. It worked so well for me, but taking them down has been the devil! This yarn is just making it so difficult and time consuming. I'm truly testing my patience because I'm so anxious to to try some of the styles I'll be jacking from Youtube and other blogs. I'm even more anxious to try a wash & go which I haven't done since I big chopped. It seems fitting now that the weather is nice and I actually know what I'm. But untill I get these freakin yarn locks out I guess I'll just have to enjoy my future styles on other naturals... *sigh*

Loc'd up

So I have been crowned the Queen of hair styles. Since January I've had 5 long-term protective styles. I guess I've put myself on a length protection plan. I'm keeping my hair kept away until Spring takes full swing. So right now I'm wearing my favorite style yet. They're called genie locks or yarn braids. I wish I could tell you how many people have complimented me on how beautiful my locs are. After telling them that they aren't real, with eyes wide and questioning expressions they ask me what type of hair it is and how much did it cost. When I tell them it totaled at $2.50 and It's just yarn they are even more stunned.

(Ignore my randomness)

I've always wanted dreads but I've always been worried about how permanent it will be as well as how they would look on me. I realized that I do love them and I think they would look great in real life (lol) But I love the versatility of loose hair. It's great that I can have locs for a month or so and go right back to twist outs and fros.

It's so simple to "install". Check out these videos from women who have mastered the genie lock technique.
